Sported Foundation Funding

At the beginning of 2026 Dance Free CIC was awarded a grant from Sported, made possible thanks to the incredible support from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

This funding was specifically awarded to help us continue our mission of using movement as a tool for social good—strengthening our communities, promoting inclusion, and bringing the joy of free-movement to underserved areas across Lincolnshire.

The Power of Consistency - Weekly Rhythm

The most transformative change this funding enabled was the shift toward consistency. We know that building a healthy habit and a strong community requires more than just one-off events; it requires a rhythm you can rely on.

Because of this support, we were able to move from occasional gatherings to a regular, weekly schedule in our key locations. This stability has meant our community now knows exactly when and where they can find their next moment of connection, joy, and movement.

The grant allowed us to launch a dedicated programme in Lincoln City. By focusing on the mental and physical wellbeing of our community—predominantly women—we’ve been able to turn the tide on inactivity and foster deep, lasting connections with both nature and each other.

Celebrating the Impact

Thanks to this investment in our marketing and administration, our community has grown stronger and more vibrant than ever. Here is a snapshot of what we achieved together during this project:

  • 10 ‘Move in Nature’ events that brought people together in nature and urban parks.

  • Growing Community - we welcomed 70 participants who discovered the magic of movement.

  • We were delighted that 21% of our attendees joined a Dance Free session for the very first time.

  • The spirit of our community is clear, with 79% of participants returning for more than one event.

  • A huge thank you to our 10 volunteers who helped spread the word by hanging posters and handing out flyers.

What Changed?

The impact has been transformative. The funding allowed us to build a professional library of images and streamline our marketing, making the Dance Free brand more recognisable and accessible.

Most importantly, your feedback led to the permanent shift to weekly sessions, ensuring that movement and social connection are now a dependable part of your life. We’ve seen new audiences find us through our improved digital presence, and the heartwarming feedback from dancers reminds us every day why we do what we do.

To the Sported Foundation and the players of People’s Postcode Lottery: thank you for believing in the power of dance. And to our community: thank you for moving with us and making Lincolnshire a brighter, more connected place to live.

See you on the Earth dance floor—every week!
