In October 2023, Harriet Plewis, artist in residency at North Sea Observatory, ran a 'dance and journalling' session for participants to explore their body and mind relationship to the coastline.

This was part of Harriet’s project called Ode Offshore, which collected memories and knowledges of the coastline, and weaved them into a specially made 'ruttier': an ancient song which sailors used to navigate the oceans before maps were in existence.

Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund

Dance Free C.I.C. are delighted to have been awarded funding by Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund, managed by Lincolnshire Community Foundation.

We will run regular Dance Free events and some exciting new Eco-enrichment workshops in Anderby Creek and Chapel St. Leonards.

We value wind as a renewable energy source.

One of the many pleasures of dancing outdoors is feeling energised by the power of the wind and embracing nature in all its beauty.

'I used to avoid going outdoors on windy days...today after experiencing the invigorating feeling of Dancing Free on the beach, I have made friends with the wind'. - Rachel

In July 2023, Louisa Chase, a local Ecological artist, held a nature enrichment workshop; Moving with Nature’ at Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire.

This gently guided movement and nature enrichment session led exploring, expanding and deepening the ways in which we connect with place through moving and interacting with the elements and beach environment.

In November 2023, Dance Free CIC collaborated with Ellie Benton, a local artist, to offer a unique workshop; ‘Creative Play’, held both indoor and outdoor at Chapel Point Beach and North Sea Observatory Gallery.

Participants connected to the seascape and their inner playfulness, embracing their creativity using a combination of art making, dance and meditation.
